Split Level Elevator System
Hi Neighbor, I've started a DIY Inclined elevator project this week to add wheelchair access to our lower 3 rooms (kitchen, family & dining). Material cost are under $1000 and will move 500 lbs. easily between the 2 floors. I will share my Solidworks plans to anyone considering such a project. The 30 x 36 inch platform travels diagonally (on an angle) up-down 5 steps in about 30 seconds. I'm using a dual 20mm round shaft linear guide system and kevlar bands for the connection between the dual motors (redundant) and the moving platform. Two drive bands and 2 counter balance ribbons in all, insure utmost safe/ reliable operation. Yes, kevlar is the material they use to make bullet proof vests so I guess my elevator is bullet proof too.

Hi retiredEE,
Sounds like a big project for DIY, hope you are successful and let us know how it turns out. Some photos would be great too.
