Hi Neighbor,
I'm signed up for ComsumerLab.com newsletter and always find the health related articles interesting. Sugar science and how we solved the world's obesity problem makes me wonder if maybe plain sugar in smaller doses might be a healthier path. I've attached the condensed version of the article and a link to a youtube video that is worth exploring.
We have been using the Torani brand of sugar free syrups for a very long time. Torani uses sucralose which is temperature stable up to 119 degrees Celsius. Water boils at 100C at sea level. I've been adding a few squirts of French Vanilla (sugar free) to our steal cut oats after the 90 second microwave reheat because I knew things go toxic at higher heat levels. We also use sugar free Torani syrup to flavor our plain yogurt and Greek yogurt (yo-cheese). After the article however, I'm wondering if hurting our large intestine healthy microbiome. Our daily doses of yogurt is probably helping a bit, but I'm seriously considering purchasing the regular sugar version of Torani next time.
