Anyone using RYR?
My recent physical turned up a 209mg/dL value which is slightly over the 200 maximum recommended. I am looking into Red Yeast Rice (RYR) as an alternative to statin medications. Costco has "Weider Red Yeast Rice Plus" on their shelves and the fact it has a max guarantee 20ng/g Citrinin on the label is worth a try. Like any unregulated supplements it can be a gamble as to what you actually get for your money; however, the Weider brand seems to get consistent good reviews. The Plus on the label means Phytosterols have been included in the formulation which is another know avenue at reducing bad cholesterol. So I'm making a tiny effort now to help reduce the plaque buildup in my arteries and will know in 6 months if this was a real solution.
